The gripping sequel to Children of Alpheios, the Firebird Book Award winner.

After rescuing her son from its corrupt rulers, she built a fresh life with a new fiancé in a remote sanctuary. But when word of her mother's grave illness reaches her, Alina's fragile peace shatters.

Returning to Alpheios means Alina must navigate rising threats in an unpredictable city. In pursuit of dominance, the city's power brokers are jeopardizing their citizens' lives. Alina must ally with a man she has long avoided-a Guardian officer who fathered her son. Both have a shared stake in the city's uncertain future.

My Review:

Alina never thought she'd set foot in Alpheios again. This time, she'll reunite with the father of her child which will have consequences she never expected. Is she willing to make the ultimate sacrifice or will she run away once again? Origins Progeny is a riveting dystopian with an explosive ending. I was glued to the book as I read. The story is well-written with a complex plot, conflicts at every turn, emotional tension, and flawless world-building. There's so much going on, yet I couldn't stop reading. The characters, though, are what make Origins Progeny an unforgettable read.

I have to start by talking about the world-building. This is what makes Origins Progeny such a wonderful read. Diana Fedorak takes her time building this world and the results are incredible. Every nuance of this world is detailed with precision. Once you start reading, you won't want to leave.

The characters are well-written with each character having their own personality and voice. I liked Alina most of all. She's a realist who's gone from poverty to wealthy living conditions in a flash. Her viewpoint is poignant and will touch you.

Fans of Divergent will want to read Origins Progeny. It's book two in the series with more to come. I can't wait to see what happens next.

My Rating: 5+ stars
