She’s a modern woman. He’s a blast from the past. Can their love survive the test of time… and war?
Adventure reporter Melanie "Mel" Morton tackles current events, not historical retellings. But that all changes when a WWII veteran tracks her down and seeks her help in saving her gold-star grandfather’s life… by traveling back in time.
For Mel, the stakes keep rising until she finds herself on her grandfather’s fateful final mission. Shot down behind enemy lines, Mel and Jack Hamilton, the now-young and handsome pilot, must navigate the occupied French countryside and their generational differences. With her grandfather’s life and her future on the line, Mel and Jack can’t afford the distraction of their undeniable chemistry. Failure to complete their mission could get them killed, or worse, change the course of history.
Out of Time is a riveting time travel romance adventure novel. If you like explosive chemistry, rapid-fire action, and accurate depictions of the Second World War, then you’ll love Pauline Baird Jones’ homage to the Greatest Generation.

Excerpt:
Already it felt as if some of the weight had been shared with his broad, powerful shoulders. She could breathe easier. And she hadn’t realized how crushed she’d felt, how alone and…afraid. Afraid of what? She wasn’t sure, though it swirled around Phillips. But the threat felt bigger than him. As if a shadow loomed over her, one that—she shivered and realized they were near the cemetery where so many fallen pilots were laid to rest. Would this place, this desert be her final home? She was a scientist, an engineer, but she was also human. And she’d been so alone with ghosts and the past until now. For a second, she could have sworn she saw a headstone with her name on it—
She wasn’t sure how it happened, but her hand slid down, or his slid up, and now their fingers twined together. Nowhere, not even the moment she’d realized she felt at home in her parent’s lab, had she felt a stronger sense of belonging.
“This is crazy,” she said as his hand clenched on hers.
“Yes,” he agreed, smiling ruefully down at her. The rising sun topped the mountains, sending light flowing up them both so that she could see his face. His eyes were so deep, she had the strange sense she could fall in if she leaned forward just a bit and the shadow couldn’t follow her there. She just needed to get close enough to him.
He stopped and turned to face her. It hadn’t even been a whole day since she’d sat down next to him. How was that possible? A stranger who wasn’t. She knew him. It wasn’t just crazy, it was insane. But when his head bent toward hers, she went up on her toes to meet him. Felt his arms slide around her, pulling her gently but firmly closer.
Science and this man. Her two certainties. And either or both could disappear without warning because of the shadow.

What’s your favorite part about being a romance author?
My favorite part of being a romance author is “meeting” my couple, having a front row seat as they going through their trials, watching their trust and love in each other grow until they get their happy ending. I love happy endings!
Here’s my tip to add romance to your love life:
Don’t give up who you are to be loved by someone. If they can’t love you the way you are right now, if you have to change who and what you are to be with someone, that person isn’t worthy of your love or your time.
