The day her grandfather died, Sally’s life changed forever.

Twenty-Two-year-old Sally Rayton returns to the family farm she deserted four years ago to bury her grandfather. Her plan: to settle her grandfather’s estate and return to her life in the city with her boyfriend, Trevor Mattson.

Her childhood friend, Jack Smith, has other ideas.

Jack convinces Sally to transform the farm into a brewery and fulfill her grandfather’s dream while keeping the Rayton Farm in the family. Sally works side-by-side with Jack while Trevor is hundreds of miles away in the city. The more time she spends with Jack, the stronger her feelings are for him. Sally’s torn between her new feelings for her best friend, Jack and her boyfriend, Trevor.

When Trevor shows up to propose to Sally right before Christmas and finds her in Jack’s embrace, she’s unsure which man she loves. Will it be her best friend and farmer, Jack, or will it be rich, successful Trevor? City or Country… only Sally’s heart knows what’s right and true.

Excerpt:

"Thank you for inviting me to lunch, Linda." Sally looked around the Pink Ladies coffee shop. She remembered her grandparents taking her here every year for her birthday. The Johnson family ran the coffee shop; it's over thirty years old although you wouldn't guess it by its pristine condition. Pink miniature roses decorated the walls while the tables and floor were a sparkling white.

"You and the farm have been attached at the hip for months and after endless unanswered phone called, I knew I had to kidnap you for the day." Linda replied.

Sally rolled her eyes. "It hasn't been that long."

"Yes, it has. The last time I saw you was at your grandfather's funeral three months ago." She stared knowingly at Sally with a raised eyebrow.

"Three months?" Sally leaned back in her chair, thinking back. "Huh, you know I think you're right." She put her hand on Linda's. "I'm sorry for being such a bad girlfriend. With Grandpa dying and..."

"Working yourself to death," Linda interrupted. She squeezed Sally's hand. "Seriously, you work too hard."

"No, I don't." Sally scoffed.

"Or is it so you can spend night and day with that handsome Jack Smith?"

Sally blushed.

"I - I don't know what you mean." Sally picked up her menu and pretended to read it.

"You don't fool me, Sally Rayton." Linda pulled down Sally's menu. Sally met her gaze.

"You're crazy. I have a boyfriend," she pointed out.

"Uh ha, and where is this boyfriend of yours while you're working your fingers to the bone?" Linda looked around the coffee shop for emphasis.

Sally shrugged.

"He's back in the city, completing his degree."

"Listen Sally, I'm your friend and we've been through everything together."

Sally nodded.

"I know Linds..." Sally trailed off. She hated to admit it, but Linda was right. Where was Trevor? Every time he called, all he did was talk about school and how he missed her. He stopped asking how things were going on the farm. The farm became the one topic they didn't discuss: the proverbial elephant in the room.

"Why can't you see what the whole town sees? While your city boyfriend is off doing God-knows-what with who-know-whom..."

"Linda! You don't know anything about Trevor," snapped Sally.

"I know he isn't here, in this town, helping you." She crossed her arms over her bosom.

Sally's shoulders sagged.

What makes your featured book a must-read?

We wrote Planting the Seeds of Love: A Novella in just under two weeks. We collaborated to get the POV's of Sally and Jack just right. Why a farm friends-to-lovers sweet romance? Both of our families were farmers and in our dedication, we dedicate it to farmers for their hard work ethic, love of the land and feeding the world. Please take a chance and read this novella. It's an uplifting, feel-good romance. It's short in length but heartwarming. Fans of Hallmark movies will love this romance.

“Very cute, feel good contemporary romance novella. A very sweet, warm and gentle read. Short and clean- scenes with some light fighting and swearing but no sex or extreme language. Sally came across as a bit of a spoilt little princess, with Jack as her clear Prince Charming. I really didn't like the character Trevor- so possessive and arrogant. Great descriptive narrative, vivid dialogue that not only breathed life into the characters but provided a window into life in a tight knit countryside community. The countryside community was portrayed so positively, it even lured this committed city girl into sampling a taste of country life with a farm visit next holiday.” - Ariel C. (Goodreads)

“I don't usually read romance novellas (or romance in general, call me hard-hearted if you want to), but this is a sweet coming of age novel which makes you wish too could come back home. I was really glad the romance didn't get too graphic, because that's just not my thing (some people are into that I understand, but it makes me turn the page). I liked the idea of turning the farm into a brewery and wouldn't have minded seeing more of that. In fact, I wouldn't have minded seeing more of several things (which would, of course, turn this into a novel instead of a novella...) This celebration of returning to your roots and love for the land is a more realistic coming of age novel because in high school hardly anyone knows anything--and she finally "comes of age" when she comes back home. This sweet love triangle is really between her love for city versus country life.”  4 stars Ann M. Noser (Goodreads)
