The day her grandfather died, Sally’s life changed forever.

Twenty-Two-year-old Sally Rayton returns to the family farm she deserted four years ago to bury her grandfather. Her plan: to settle her grandfather’s estate and return to her life in the city with her boyfriend, Trevor Mattson.

Her childhood friend, Jack Smith, has other ideas.

Jack convinces Sally to transform the farm into a brewery and fulfill her grandfather’s dream while keeping the Rayton Farm in the family. Sally works side-by-side with Jack while Trevor is hundreds of miles away in the city. The more time she spends with Jack, the stronger her feelings are for him. Sally’s torn between her new feelings for her best friend, Jack and her boyfriend, Trevor.

When Trevor shows up to propose to Sally right before Christmas and finds her in Jack’s embrace, she’s unsure which man she loves. Will it be her best friend and farmer, Jack, or will it be rich, successful Trevor? City or Country… only Sally’s heart knows what’s right and true.

Excerpt:

"Have you broken things off with Trevor?"

Her eyes widened a bit. After a moment, she shook her head.

"Why not?" He didn't make a move and time seemed to stand still for her. Her heart raced and for the first time, she knew he was waiting for her to initiate contact. Her gaze dropped to his hands, which were two clenched fists in his lap.

"Because I love him." Sally exhaled. There, she admitted it aloud. She loved Trevor, even though her heart screamed for her to kiss Jack.

"I see." His voice had a hard edge to it. "And what about me?"

Sally started to tremble but not with fear. She wanted Jack, more than she wanted anyone else. She wanted to feel Jack's lips on her body, make love to him, to become one with Jack.

"Sally..." he pleaded. "Answer me before I fall apart here."

"How do I feel about you?" she asked, knowing she was stalling. She stared into his eyes, drowning in their fiery depths.

He nodded.

"I love you, you know that." Her voice cracked. Tension and desire filled the space between them.

"But not like you love Trevor." His jealousy and hurt shattered her heart.

"No, I love you in a very different way." Her breath came in short, erratic spurts. Time for the truth. "I want you, more than I've ever wanted anyone in my life," she whispered.

Jack sucked in his breath.

"I don't know what to do, Jack. I love you both." Her lower lip quivered. She bit down hard.

Jack's eyes slid closed for a moment.

"I know you, more than I know myself. You didn't ask for this and I certainly haven't helped things." Jack rubbed his forehead before gazing at her.

"Jack, tell me what to do," she pleaded. "You've always been my knight in shining armor. Your princess needs rescuing."

He shook his head.

"I can't rescue you from this torment." He leaned forward, careful not to touch her. "This time, you have to rescue me."

She kissed him, pulling him closer. He moaned, his fingers burying themselves in her hair. After a moment, she came up for air.

Breathless she whispered his name. "Jack..."

"Yes?"

"What are we going to do?" Her heart swelled then contracted. "I don't want to hurt either of you."

He caressed her furrowed brow.

"You'll figure it out." His eyes lit up. "I've got a great idea. Let's go out on a proper date."

She raised an eyebrow.

"A proper date?" she asked.

He readjusted himself in his seat, reaching out to hold her hand.

"Trevor's taken you on tons of dates." He lowered his voice. "Let me take you out and show you a good time."

She cocked her head to one side, mulling it over.

"Well..."

"Listen, the Christmas dance is tomorrow night. Let's get dressed up and have a romantic evening."

She smiled.

"I would love to go dancing. I haven't been in ages."

He kissed the tip of her nose.

"Great, then it's settled." He flipped on the headlights and honked the horn once. "Magic's in the air, Princess."

She gasped as she looked towards the house, covering her mouth with her hands. Christmas lights lit the trees and the porch. The front yard was decorated with a nativity scene plus some of her favorite cartoon characters.
