Title: Protecting Lindsay

Author: Elsa Winckler

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense

Book Blurb:

How does he protect his heart while protecting her?

Lindsay Wilson simply wants to concentrate on her shop where she sells her own mixtures of creams and essential oils. What she doesn’t want is the seriously sexy Blake Davidson hell-bent on protecting her from the abusive boyfriend who followed her to Montana all the way from South Africa. To add to her frustration, he makes her feel things she’s never felt before but she’s made a mistake in the past, can she trust her instincts this time?

Blake lost two people before because he couldn’t protect them, so what’s different this time with Lindsay? From the moment he’s laid eyes on her, all his instincts have been telling him to make sure nothing happens to her so he has no choice but to move into her place to keep her safe. But what about his own heart?

My Review:

Why can’t he just go away? All Lindsay wants is for bossy Blake to leave her alone. Can’t he see what he’s doing to her? It can’t be love, can it? Protecting Lindsay is an addictive romance I couldn’t put down. The narration is emotional with intense detail. The dialogue is realistic and has an almost rom com feel to it. It’s the characters, though, which makes this romance so compelling.

Let’s dive into the characters, shall we? Lindsay is a woman I connected with on so many levels. She left an abusive man in South Africa to start a new life in Montana. She’s built a nice home for herself, but word is he’s coming for her. Terror freezes her but she can handle it. She doesn’t need Blake to protect her, right? Wrong. Blake is just what she needs. Sure, he’s an alpha who broods a bit and orders her around. But he’s also perfect in keeping her safe. The sparring between these two only fuels the passion simmering just under the surface. I couldn’t get enough.

The writing of Lindsay and Blake is flawless. Elsa Winkler paints Lindsay in a realistic light but not as a helpless victim. She’s a woman of great strength who’s been through so much. Elsa Winkler writes Blake as an alpha who, when you peel away the gruff exterior, is compassionate, understanding, and full of love.

The descriptive narration is excellent. There is so much emotion packed into almost every scene between Black and Lindsay. Every sigh, flutter, and angsty thought is brilliantly detailed. Some might say it’s over the top but not me. This is what makes Protecting Lindsay such an immersive romance. I got to fall in love right alongside Lindsay and Blake.

If you like your romance with tons of banter and angst, you’ll love Protecting Lindsay as much as I did.

My Rating: 5+ stars

Author Biography:

Elsa has been reading love stories for as long as she can remember and when she ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James, the Brontë sisters, etc. during her Honors studies, she was hooked for life.

Although her three grown-up children rarely acknowledge the fact they have a romance-writing mom, her husband fortunately, is very proud of her, reads every word and is happy to make sure she gets the kissing scenes just right.

She likes the heroines in her stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong. And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous. Her stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.
