Title: Raine: Christmas Quilt Brides ~ Book 17
Author: Nancy Fraser
Genre: Historical Western Holiday Romance, Historical Holiday Romance
Book Blurb:
Raine Tucker has finally found a home in Castle Rock, Oregon. She has a small cottage on the outskirts of town, not far from her brother and his new bride. Her days are split between working at the town’s medical clinic and caring for a private patient with dementia.
Thomas Billings is finally settling into his position as bank manager, a job he earned through hard work and dedication. He’s even building his dream home on land he inherited from his late grandfather. Now, all he needs to make his life complete is a young woman to court and eventually marry.
With the annual winter festival and quilting competition coming up just before the holidays, will the single ladies of Castle Rock work overtime to impress Thomas with their homemaking skills? Or will the only young woman not in the competition be the one to catch his eye.
My Review:
Raine loves living in Castle Rock and helping others, especially a patient dealing with dementia. Feelings bloom for Thomas Billings but does he feel the same? Only one way to find out…
Raine is a heartwarming historical western romance I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve read the previous two books in this series written by Nancy Fraser and this one is just as good. The story is historically accurate with a wholesome narration I simply adore. Nancy Fraser harkens back to a different era and brings readers along for the ride.
The characters are what make Raine such a wonderful read. Raine is a nurse who touches many lives in Castle Rock. Her medical expertise is impressive but it’s her mannerisms with patients are what stole my heart.
Seeing the effects of dementia on the patient, her family, and friends of the family is poignantly described. I have to admit I cried a little. It was fascinating to read how they handled it back in the day.
The romance is slow-burn and wholesome. Nancy injects all the emotion without any of the steam. I fell in love right along with the characters. Another romantic gem by Nancy Fraser and one I recommend.
My Rating: 5 stars
