Title: Requiem
Author: P.L. Parker
Genre: Science Fiction Romance
Book Blurb:
The rebels are losing the intergalactic war.
They need a prototype of the Deg’Nara’s latest weapon, a planet-killer, to survive. A covert operations team is tasked with finding and retrieving the weapon. Their mission is proceeding as planned when it goes horribly wrong. Ashyr, a space pirate, swoops in and literally tears the weapon from the team’s hands.
Cam can’t let that happen. Impetuous, reckless, and determined to retrieve it at all costs, she throws herself onto Ashyr’s ship and the battle begins.
My Review:
One weapon to rule them all. The rebels are losing big to the Deg’Nara when rumors start flying about the latest Deg’Nara weapon. It’s a planet killer and if the rebels can get their hands on a prototype, they just might gain the upper hand in this deadly interplanetary war. The rebels execute a mission to retrieve the weapon and just when they have it in their grasp, a space pirate named Ashyr steals it away. It’s up to Cam to wrestle it out of that dastardly pirate’s clutches. Cam knows she must do anything in her power to secure the prototype so she gains access to his ship and joins his crew. Cam’s in over her head waging wits with Ashyr but she’s one determined woman. Let the battle begin…
Requiem is the latest installment of P.L. Parker’s Deg’Nara series. It has a lot going on with a fast-moving plot, a full cast of characters, action, adventure, suspense, intrigue, a space pirate, romance, and more. Requiem is a well-written story from start to finish. I found myself totally caught up in the story, I couldn’t put it down. Cam is an easy character to connect with. I hadn’t read far into the book before Cam started burrowing her way into my heart. I loved her wit, quick-thinking, and humorous dialogue. If you’re a hard-core sci-fi reader like me, you’ll recognize some familiar themes such as rebel armies, empires, and planet explosions. The descriptive narration is so immersive, reading Requiem is totally an escape from the real world. If you love sci-fi romance with plenty of action scenes, you’ll love Requiem. If you have a thing for space pirates, you’ll want to read Requiem. Brilliantly written and executed, Requiem is a must-read! Highly recommend!
