Title: Riftsiders: White Collar Crimes
Author: Paul A. DeStefano
Genre: Urban Fantasy / Paranormal
Book Blurb:
The third book of the Riftsiders series follows Enrique's first official field assignment leading a team of demonically possessed agents investigating remains found in the New Orleans bayou that fit in a shoebox. Elkie insists they first get rid of Enrique's recent curse by visiting an old and dangerous adversary. The others hunt the city and swamps where Father Ebbs uncovers blasphemous truths with a new friend-truths that will tear the group apart and fill the bayou with blood.
My Review:
Enrique’s curse is the least of their troubles as they uncover deadly secrets in the bayou. Will they get out of New Orleans in one piece without tearing each other apart? Riftsiders: White Collar Crimes is an action-filled paranormal adventure. This is book three in the series and it’s my favorite one. The world-building is immense and transports the reader. The action scenes are well detailed and add the right amount of tension without being over the top. But it’s the characters which make Riftsiders: White Collar Crimes an unputdownable read.
Let’s start with the characters. Enrique is a riftsider and is leading the investigation. While he’s suffering health-wise, he’s got bigger fish to fry. The more I learn about him in this installment, the more respect I have for Enrique. He’s doing the best he can. The stress on his shoulders is enormous. His inner dialogue is sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but always entertaining.
The investigation part of this story captivated me from the start. It wasn’t clear what was happening right off the bat, but I enjoyed unraveling the secrets and whodunit.
If you’re looking for an entertaining paranormal with adventure and mystery elements, pick up Riftsiders: White Collar Crimes. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, I recommend reading them as well. It’s brilliant!
My Rating: 5+ stars
