My Review:
There’s magic in the air this Halloween…can Kyle resist the allure of Cassie’s charms? Kyle’s had the worst luck with women. He can’t seem to find love or last for long in relationships. But then again, his main focus is proving his worth to his father. But no matter what he does, it doesn’t seem to be enough. It’s October and all the family is going down to spend the weekend at his grandmother’s B&B. He wants to make a good impression on his family, so he wrangles a hot fake girlfriend who is also the co-worker he’s liked for the longest time. She arrives and is none-too-pleased to play at being his girlfriend. Through a lot of groveling, he wins her over. More than that, his feelings grow from infatuation to something deeper. Is this what love is? Can she possibly feel the same? Time will tell but maybe with a little help from the ghost haunting the B&B, love will sweep them off their feet.
Sand, Salt, and Spirits is a Halloween romance perfect for beach lovers. There needs to be more romances like this one set in late October. Kathryn Hills is doing her best to make it happen. From the first page, I was hooked. I connected with Kyle. He’s such a likable hero with a few quirky faults. His relationship with his father is pretty intense but I couldn’t fault Kyle for that. There’s an attraction between Kyle and Cassie and this zing is a strong undercurrent throughout the story. I like Cassie, a lot. She’s feisty and speaks her mind. She reminds me of Kyle’s grandmother in that she doesn’t take any guff from Kyle. Fake relationship romance is such a fun trope to read. Kathryn Hills uses her pen as a magic wand and creates an unputdownable read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kyle stumble into love. There’s a bit of supernatural fun sprinkled in, too. The descriptive narration and plot progression along with witty banter make Sand, Salt, and Spirits a must-read. Another gem of a romance by Kathryn Hills. Highly recommend!
