Title: Saved by the Spell (Of Mystics and Mayhem #2)

Author: Heidi Vanlandingham

Genre: Fantasy Romance

Book Blurb:

Willow Kallias is plagued by a lifetime of rejection and anger, but when she finds herself imprisoned in a strange realm in an even stranger world, she realizes her old problems are the least of her worries. Fallen leader, Malachi, rescues Willow only to discover his own life is in danger when a vengeful succubus sets her sights on using him to destroy the realms of Dark World. When the succubus kidnaps Malachi, Willow’s newfound powers are put to the test, and she not only has to save the demon she’s fallen in love with but also figure out how to stop the succubus before the rest of her newly discovered family is destroyed. The realms of Dark World are still failing, and like the demon queen before her, the succubus is only a pawn. Dark World is still in grave danger.

My Review:

Kind-hearted Willow casts a spell to help her friend but winds up imprisoned in a nightmare realm, that is until Malachi rescues her. There's something about him that calls out to her. When he reveals he's a fallen angel, she can relate. Just when she's starting to seriously fall for Malachi, he's kidnapped by a very dangerous woman, a succubus. There's a hidden dark power itching to take the Dark World for his very own. With the help of her newfound friends of the Dark World, Willow must believe in her own powers to save not only her beloved Malachi but the realms of the Dark World. It's one Willow against an army and my money's on the strength of love.

Saved by the Spell is an intriguing fantasy romance that blends paranormal (witches), fallen angels, and mythology. This is book two in the series and while you don't need to read book one in order to follow Willow's story, there are certain storylines from book one which carries on through Saved by the Spell. I liked Willow but there were times while reading her story that I got confused with what was going on. The plot overall moves at a good pace with plenty of action, romance, and intrigue. While I didn't like this book as well as book one, it was an interesting tale. The characters really make it a worthwhile read. If you're a fantasy romance or witchy romance reader, you'll enjoy Saved by the Spell. I look forward to book three in the series.

My Rating: 4.5 stars
