Title: Snowdrop Dreams, Cherry Thumbprint Screams
Author: Kimberly Baer
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Holiday Fiction
Book Blurb:
When Annie Barkley discovers a boy living in the attic of her cookie shop, she’s stunned—and oddly elated. She can almost believe the universe is giving her back the infant son she lost eleven years ago.
Annie senses that something bad happened to the boy, but he won’t talk. All she knows is that he’s terrified of being found. When her long-ago crush, police captain Sam Stern, stops by to inquire about a missing boy, Annie says she hasn’t seen him.
Big mistake. Because that lie might cost her more than a romance with Sam. It also leaves her vulnerable to a ruthless pursuer, one who’s determined to silence the boy for good.

My Review:
Annie finds a frightened boy in her shop and puts her life and his on the line to protect him from someone who wants him dead. Someone is stealing cookies overnight from Annie’s cookie shop but why? Annie soon discovers it is a boy around the same age her son would’ve been, had he lived. This boy, however, isn’t saying anything. She takes him home and cares for him. He’s terrified of the police and being found so she doesn’t tell anyone, not even her years-old crush, Sam. Sam’s now the police captain and when he asks her if she’s seen a missing boy, she says no. Lying to the man she wants to date is bad enough but when trouble comes after her, she’s in grave danger. Can she protect the boy before they’re both silenced forever?
Snowdrop Dreams, Cherry Thumbprint Screams is a romantic suspense with all the holiday feels. I simply adored this book. It has everything I love in a holiday read plus gripping romantic suspense. I connected with Annie right away. She’s such a wonderful heroine with a tragic past. Her inner dialogue is equal parts funny and sad. The loss of her infant son tugged at my heartstrings and I shed a few tears. The plot moves at a great pace with just the right balance of romance and suspense. Kimberly Baer amps up the intrigue in Snowdrop Dreams, Cherry Thumbprint Screams which made my heart thump loud in my ears. I confess to staying up late one night to finish up this story. Kimberly Baer is a talented writer who writes primarily middle grade and young adult so I was thrilled to see her tackle adult romantic suspense. It is, hands down, one of the best romantic suspense books I’ve read in a long time. If you’re a romantic suspense reader, you’ll want to read Snowdrop Dreams, CherryThumbprint Screams. If you’re looking for a holiday read that isn’t mushy romance, pick up Snowdrop Dreams, Cherry Thumbprint Screams. Highly recommend!
