My Review:
Klahanie returns home, not realizing the danger she’s in. Sound and Deception is a gripping romantic suspense set on an island. With a tight cast of characters and a feeling of isolation, I couldn’t put this book down. Nancy E. Polin is known for writing paranormal romance, yet it was pleasurable to read Sound and Deception.
Let’s start with the characters. I connected with Klahanie from the start. She’s an independent heroine who is back home, a place she never thought she’d be. Family brings her home, yet things go sideways when she runs into her ex, Noah. The tension between her and Noah is off the charts. There’s a dark secret between them and if they are to get back together, Noah must tell her the truth. These characters are so well written, they stuck with me long after I finished reading.
The world-building and narration work together to hook the reader. Layering in descriptive narration, suspense, and a sense of foreboding, Nancy E. Polin crafts a flawless story. The world-building is impressive with its rich attention to detail. Emotions also play a huge role in the plot. Put it all together and Sound and Deception is an unforgettable read.
My Rating: 5+ stars
