N. N. Light’s Book Heaven is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Isn’t that wonderful?
I’d like to introduce you to prolific romance author Sue Ward Drake.
Question 1: Where were you ten years ago in relation to your author/writer career? If you weren’t writing, what were you doing?
Back in 2015 I was trying to sell to Harlequin again or another New York City publishing house. I'd written some contemporary romances set in Scotland, which I'm still not sure what to do with, but concentrated on romantic suspense. I had attended RWA romance writing conferences the previous few years and was looking forward to summer 2026 and their conference in San Diego.
Question 2: Looking back on the past ten years, how has your writing grown?
I don't think I'm ever going to be a FAST writer, but I have the confidence now of having worked with story-telling every year now since 2010. Now, I don't second guess my process, and know how to construct a story. It's true the more you write, the better you get.
Question 3: What are you doing now? How many books have you published?
7 plus 2 short stories included in Big Easy Christmas.
I have 3 romantic suspense set in my old hometown, New Orleans: Walking the Edge, Casting the Dice, Fleeing the Storm. And one novella. I'm currently working on 2 romantic suspense set in that world for release later this year (2025).
I also have 3 stories in the Greek Legacy series: Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil.
And a standalone contemporary Christmas novella written as part of a trilogy: Christmas Reunion.
