He lives only for today…she has eyes on tomorrow.

Growing up, Victoria Templeton watched her mother scrape for every penny and vowed that would never be her. She's become a woman so busy worrying about tomorrow, she doesn't allow time for today. And she has plans for the summer that don't include sharing a house with a carefree beach bum with no ambition, even one with a signed lease and a smokin' hot bronzed body.

The tragic loss of his six year old son caused Blake Callahan to learn the hard way no one is guaranteed a tomorrow. He now lives only for today—wine, women, and flying kites on the beach. Until an uptight female with soulful eyes and mouth-watering curves invades his beach house, claiming it's hers for the summer.

Forced to share the place until the mix-up is straightened out, Blake and Vicki find they have nothing in common…except a sizzling heat that has nothing to do with summer.

Excerpt

He smoothed her hair away from her damp face. "Vicki, we need to talk about—"

"No." She placed her fingertips against his lips. "Please don't make more of this than it is. I want you to know I'm not in the habit of falling into bed with every man I meet, with men I've only known a few hours. You and I…we don't have anything in common. Our lifestyles and goals are completely different, but there's obviously something about our body chemistry, something pulling us—"

Now it was Blake's turn to place his fingertips against her lips to stop her words. "I never thought for a moment that you promiscuously hopped into bed with every man who crossed your path. If you don't want to talk about this right now, we can wait until—"

Vicki stopped his words with a kiss. Even though it felt strange with neither of them mentioning what had happened the night before, she didn't want to confront the truth. Didn't want to deal with where it could lead. Two ships passing in the night. As different as could be in what they wanted from life…except in bed where they both wanted the exact same thing. The best thing to do was simply leave it at that. Accept it for what it was—a short term situation with no long term consequences to consider.

At least, that's what she wanted to believe. She couldn't allow a thought to the contrary. No way would she entertain the possibility of anything more with this man. She had her entire future planned out, and he absolutely did not fit into that plan. Nothing about him fit into her life.

"We have to talk about this, Vicki. Not now, apparently, but sometime soon. This is too hot. Too all consuming. Much too…"

What makes your featured book a must-read?

The age old adage of opposites attract might not necessarily be true, but in the case of Vicki Templeton and Blake Callahan it applies from the moment they first meet. But that attraction isn't based on common goals or similar life styles. Due to the tragic death of his six-year-old son, Blake no longer believes in the future. Every day must be lived as if it was the last. No one is guaranteed a tomorrow.

Vicki, on the other hand, has learned what she believes is a valuable lesson from her childhood. The only purpose for today is to plan for the future. They are about as opposite as you can get. Yet the attraction between them can't be denied.

But what will happen when summer is over and it's time to return to reality? When she finds out that Blake isn't the carefree beach bum with no ambition that she believed him to be? Will either of them be able to change their philosophy on life?

Author Biography:

Samantha Gentry's Typical Day

As soon as I wake up, Harrison (my houseboy) draws my scented bath.  By the time I've finished bathing and am dressed he has prepared a champagne brunch which he serves on the terrace next to the swimming pool.  I spend the next two hours reading the morning newspaper and working on my tan.

Promptly at the stroke of noon I adjourn to my home office and begin writing.  I spend a grueling four hours slaving away over my computer keyboard creating brilliant prose filled with exciting characters, entertaining plots and highly sensual encounters.  I emerge from seclusion at four o'clock having written the next chapter of my current work-in-progress.

Harrison's talented touch soothes my tight shoulder muscles with an expert massage.  He pours me a glass of wine before going to prepare a gourmet dinner.  And the rest of the evening is better left to your imagination.

Oops…I just lost my hold on reality for a moment.  Sorry.

I'm a morning person and am usually at my computer by six o'clock with a cup of hot coffee which I keep at a safe distance from my keyboard (been through the spilled coffee on the keyboard before, don't need to do it again <g>).  The first thing I do is go through my email.  Then I get to work—either writing or revising on my current work in progress, or doing the edits on my next release.  I usually run errands in the early afternoon.

Hmm…I think I like the first version of what my typical day consists of better than the reality. <g>
