5 reasons to read The Agency Complete Series by @CCBolick #yalit #paranormal #bookish #99cents

Are you a fan of young adult paranormal with a bit of superhero fantasy thrown in? Today is your lucky day because one of my favorite YA authors is putting one of my all-time favorite vampire paranormal boxed sets on sale for only a few days. The Agency Complete Series is such a wonderful multilayered set of stories with a heroine every reader will connect with on some level. It’s so much more than a teen vampire novel. Here are my five reasons why you need to read The Agency Complete Series:

- The Agency Complete Series contains four full-length novels starring a seventeen-year-old named Angel. In one night, her life is changed forever. She discovers some astounding secrets and is on the run from a creature with violet eyes who wants her blood. What’s a girl to do? At first glance, Angel is hard to pin down. She’s not your normal heroine but she is someone many readers will relate to. By the end of reading book one, my heart went out to Angel. This is a fresh take on paranormal vampire stories, and I know you will like it just as much as I do.

- The author, C.C. Bolick, is a truly gifted writer. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to stop. Her uncanny ability to draw the reader in with her characters, dialogue, pacing, intrigue, and twists you won’t see coming is impressive. She writes sincere teens with authenticity and realism all in the paranormal setting.

- Grab your copy for 99 cents on Amazon until midnight on Memorial Day (May 31). What have you got to lose?

- With 19 reviews on Amazon US and an average of 4.5 out of five rating, readers love this book. The author is in need of more reviews and has slashed the price of this boxed set for readers to read the whole series for less than a buck. Take our advice and try it out.

- You can binge-read to your heart’s content. There are five books in this boxed set as well as two spin-off series to read. Trust me, you’ll want to read them all.

Excerpt:

Skip grabbed Agent Payne by the collar of his shirt and dragged his chest across the table. “Don’t ever threaten my mom.”

Agent Payne tried to loosen Skip’s grip, but there was no fighting the strength on display as Skip gave him a death stare. “Look man, I’ll—”

“You’ll what?” Skip asked. “Arrest me? Kick my ass? What?”

People from the other booths stared as I grabbed Skip’s arm. “Put him down.”

“I’m tired of his threats,” Skip said. “Since it already sounds like I’m going to jail, let’s make this worth it.”

“What do you plan to do?” Agent Payne’s voice mocked Skip and that only made Skip’s grip tighten.

“You’re some agent,” Skip said. “How about I break your nose and shove it up into your skull? It will be quick and painless, for me at least.”

Agent Payne’s eyes went wide. “You don’t have a clue about how to kill someone.”

Skip’s low growl scared me. “I watch TV and I never forget a thing.”

“Stop this.” I pulled on Skip’s arm and he turned as if he’d actually forgotten I sat beside him. The danger in his eyes turned to remorse. “I’m sorry to scare you, Angel.” He released Agent Payne’s shirt.

The agent rubbed his neck where a red line had appeared. His voice sounded hoarse. “That grip is serious. Have you ever thought about playing football?”

“I hate sports. If you know anything about me, you should know that.”

Agent Payne looked at me. “What else did your dad tell you?”

“He said someone named Decker is after him. He said we had to run so this Decker person couldn’t get me.”

“I won’t let anyone hurt Angel,” Skip said.

“I respect that.” Agent Payne held out his hands as if trying to calm Skip down. “You need to understand I’m not your enemy. If you’ll both follow me to the SUV, certain things will start to become clear.”

“Why are you really here?” I asked. “You’ve tracked us since Alabama. Why go to the trouble of finding us?”

“Because,” Agent Payne said, “my orders are to protect you from Decker.”

“There’s more,” I said as I stared at the SUV. “This isn’t just a mission for you. You hate Decker. I can hear it in the way you say his name.”

“Gabriel Decker killed someone I cared about. She didn’t…”

I glanced at Agent Payne, shocked by the sound of his voice shaking. Maybe even more shocked that he cared about someone. “You must have loved her very much.”

He stared at the window. “Her name was Emily. She had a family, but Decker didn’t care. He slowly sucked the life out of her.”

Skip crossed his arms. “What do you mean, sucked the life out of her?”

“He’s killed countless people to feed his thirst for blood.”

“I don’t understand,” Skip said.

Agent Payne focused on Skip. “Decker is a vampire.”

Skip laughed. “Lost you there, man. Thought you said ‘vampire.’”

“Like in the movies?” I asked.

“That’s all fake,” Skip said. “I don’t watch scary movies.” As he studied Agent Payne, his face brightened with understanding. “He’s the serial killer, right? The one they call ‘The Vampire.’”

Agent Payne hesitated. “How do you know about that?”

“There was a special on TV about three years ago. They did a whole show about a serial killer that removes the blood from his victims. He disappears for a few years and then reappears in a different city. Could be anywhere across the country.”

“You really do remember everything.” Agent Payne pulled out a phone. “We need to go.”

“Can’t we have breakfast first?” I asked.

From the look on his face, I felt sure he’d say no. Thankfully, the waitress walked up to the table and put a plate in front of me and two plates in front of Skip. She glanced at the coffee cup before leaving. “Let me know when you need more.”

I wanted to laugh. He hadn’t even touched the coffee. “What happened at the school the night we ran?”

Agent Payne lifted the cup and took a sip. “Just some kids pulling a prank.”

“That’s not what you told my dad.”

His gaze shifted between me and Skip as we ate, but he didn’t say another word until my plate was empty. “You’re not coming with me, are you?”

When I didn’t reply and Skip kept eating without a word, Agent Payne pulled from his pocket what looked like a flashlight, which he laid on the table next to my hand.

I waited for his hand to slide away before touching the flashlight. The black device was about the size of my index finger and had a button on one end. “You’re giving me a flashlight?”

“It’s a flashlight that doubles as a tracking device.”

Skip rolled his eyes. “Like we’re falling for that.”

“It’s not live yet. When Decker finds you, press the button. It will transmit your location.”

I frowned. “Does my dad know about this?”

Agent Payne gave me a look of frustration. “You want to run again, go ahead. I can’t stop you. Agent Lockhart can’t stop you. But Decker won’t play games. Take that tracker and give us a chance in hell of finding you after he does.”

“What makes you so sure Decker will come for me?” I asked.

“I’m sure.”

“What does Decker look like?”

“Tall, long blond hair…” Agent Payne froze as he watched my eyes. A deep dread filled his voice and a tenderness that made my whole body shake. “You’ve already seen him.”

“I’m not sure, I…”

He sighed and sat back against the booth. “You’ve already seen him. It’s too late.”

“Too late for what?” Skip whispered.

Author Biography

C.C. Bolick grew up in south Alabama, where she’s happy to still reside. She’s an engineer by day and a writer by night—too bad she could never do one without the other.

Camping, fishing… she loves the outdoors and the warm Alabama weather. For years she thought up stories to write and finally started putting them on paperback in 2006.
