My Review:
Valeriya Goffe has not just written a romance. She’s written a testimonial to the power of dreams, and to the everlasting spirit of Ukraine.
This well-written novel focuses on the two main characters, Viktor Yurchenko and Teresa Jameson, as they navigate new territory. For Viktor, the new territory is partly physical, as he moves his children and mother from war-torn Ukraine to the United States. But it’s new emotional territory as well, as he tries to figure out his feelings for Teresa.
And Teresa has been hit with some life-changing personal news herself. She’s finding footing on her new terrain, uncertain of the right course.
And if that were all there was to the story, The Dream Lives On would be a good book. But wait…there’s more.
The author has given the secondary characters new terrain to cover as well, and dreams to pursue. And perhaps that’s what makes this book so appealing. Teresa’s daughter has her own struggles. Viktor’s son has big dreams. And other family members have struggles to conquer. As I was nearing the end of the story, I was rooting for everyone.
Goffe has created a story for our times, highlighting the spirit of inspiration, determination, and faith. If you’re looking for a story to lift your spirits and give you hope, this is the book for you.

Author Biography:
Valeriya Goffe was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine and spent most of her adult life in the USA. She resides in Washington DC together with her husband, Bill, and a nine-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. You can often find their family golfing, playing tennis or hiking at the Rock Creek Park.
Valeriya’s daytime job involves writing analytical reports and managing complex financial sector projects at a large international organization. Valeriya holds a PhD degree in finance from the Kyiv National University of Economics in Ukraine and an MBA degree from Kogod School of Business, American University in Washington DC. Valeriya is trilingual in English, Russian, Ukrainian and also speaks French and Spanish.
While she finds her business career quite rewarding, Valeriya’s life would not be complete without creative writing. She writes a travel and family blog, and she published her debut fiction novel, Secrets We Keep, in 2024.
