Title: THE HAUNTING OF WILTON JUNE (Romantic Hauntings Book 2)

Author: Peggy Jaeger

Genre: PNR, Ghosts, Contemporary, STEM

Book Blurb:

Hotshot movie director Wilton June is in pre-production for a new movie. The moment he sees Maison Toussaint he decides it’s the perfect setting for the film and wants to rent it. The one stumbling block? The owner isn’t sure she can let her ancestral home be used in a movie. Botanist Jerica Toussaint needs cash – a lot of it – to keep her home up to code and her herbal healing business alive. June’s financial offer is oh-so-tempting, as is the director himself. But the house has a secret Jerica’s guarded her entire life. Can she, in good conscience, rent it to a man who may expose it? Convincing Jerica to trust him with her home – and her secret – is no easy feat and after a time Will realizes he needs to convince her to trust him with one more thing: her heart.

Excerpt:

“You always sound sad when you speak of your mother,” he said, his lips drifting across her temple. Her careless shrug had his hands caressing up her back.

“She had a sad life. Her mother died, was ripped from her life, then she discovers her father was the cause of it. The man she loved beyond measure was killed in a war no one believed in. One day she simply couldn’t take the pain any more and her heart gave out.”

Was there any more horrible death than of a broken heart, he wondered. How could a child understand such an excess of pain and loss? His arms tightened around her and Jerica burrowed in further.

Had there been anyone to comfort her when her mother died? Some to wrap their arms around her and give her solace in such a devastating time? She’d mentioned grandparents. Had they loved her? Cherished her? Made her feel special?

Will’s relationship with his family was so strong and vital to his everyday life. While he’d had issues with his father as a teen-normal issues in his mind–he loved his parents and adored his baby sister to no end. He simply couldn’t imagine a world where they weren’t part of it.

They stood a moment, twined as such, until Will finally gave into the craving consuming him for days.

Easing back, he lifted her chin from his chest with a finger. Her eyes were as round as moon pies as she stared up at him.

With her name a whisper, he lowered his head and pressed his lips to hers in a simple kiss.

Simple kiss? Who was he kidding?

Nothing could have prepared him for the torrent of heat gliding across his mouth, singeing his skin. An inferno was cooler than Jerica’s kissable mouth. And like a moth drawn to the bright light and warmth of an open flame, he wanted more. Needed it as if his very existence would end if he didn’t experience more.

Without any thought he shouldn’t, he deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue across the seam of her lips. Jerica opened for him.

Their tongues mated in a seductive dance that made his thighs tremble. Her individual taste was as exotic and alluring as the woman herself; equal bits of sweet and tart with a hint of spice hot enough to consume.

He turned them both and pressed her back against the sink edge while his knee glided between her legs.

Jerica sighed and ran her hands up his chest to clutch his shoulders, molding her body flat against his. There was no way she couldn’t tell how rock-hard he was, how much he wanted her.

Just as he was about to tell her, the kitchen door blew open and a tornado exploded in the room. The day had been cold, clear, and calm with no hint another storm was brewing. Suddenly, they were engulfed in a violent gust of wind whirling around them, encircling them like a snake coiling around prey.

Every hair on Will’s body stood straight up at attention, every pore constricted. An incomprehensible fear clogged his chest as he tightened his grip on Jerica, going into full-on protection mode.

A cupboard door flew open directly behind him and if it hadn’t been for the glimpse he got of it from the corner of his eye, it would have banged straight into his head.

“What the—”

Jerica pushed out of his arms, as the wind continued to whip around them.

“Jerica, no—” He tried to pull her back, fearful she’d be knocked back by the wind and injured.

“Stop it!” she cried. “Stop it right now.”

Confused, he retreated a step. Her beautiful face was contorted in anger, lips tugged downward, brows meeting in the midline. Why was she angry at him?

“I mean it,” she said, her gaze sweeping the kitchen. Slamming his hands onto her hips and with an expression of defiance in her tone, she looked like a warrior queen poised to do battle with an opponent.

Just as the thought bloomed in his head, the door slammed back shut, taking the wind with it.

What makes your featured book a must-read?

Ghost stories have always been a favourite of mine. The Ghost and Mrs Muir was not only a favourite movie back in the day, but the TV series with Hope Lange was must-see tv for me. I wanted to write a book along that plotline – someone who actually lives with ghosts. So, if you like a romance where ghosts – yes, plural! – are featured, this is a must-read for you.

Peggy Jaeger writes contemporary romances and rom coms about strong women, the families who support them, and the men who can’t live without them.

Dotted with humor and characters that are as real as they are loving, Peggy brings all aspects of life into her stories: life, death, sibling rivalry, illness, and the desire for everyone to find their own happily ever after. Growing up the only child of divorced parents she longed for sisters, brothers and a family that vowed to stick together no matter what came their way. Through her books, she has created the families she wanted as that lonely child.
