Do you listen to audiobooks? Do you have a favorite? If you don’t listen to audiobooks, is there a particular reason why not?
I started listening to audiobooks about two years ago, and I love them! I walk a lot and run a little, and always listen to audiobooks while doing so. It is great to exercise your mind, at the same time you are exercising your body. And there is nothing better than the combination of a good story and a great narrator. I was extremely lucky to partner up with an incredibly gifted narrator, Scott Fleming. He really brings my short stories to life. And is currently working on one of my novels.
As far as a favorite audiobook, there are so many I love… some of my favorites are, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, by David Foster, Wallace, read by a collection of fabulous narrators, including DFW himself, and John Krasinski.
Also, the Goldfinch, by Donna Tartt, beautifully narrated by David Pittu.
I should also mention that decades ago, I read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson. I enjoyed it, but it did not blow me away. Recently, I gave the audiobook a try, and I was blown away! The narrator, Ron McLarty, Made the story far more interesting than I did reading it to myself. I guess I was doing it wrong.
What makes this a must-listen audiobook?
The Name of the Book is the first one of my books to be adapted to audio. The narrator, Scott Fleming, is an amazing voice actor who will instantly draw you in.
This is a collection of short stories, which includes comedy, drama, suspense, and offers the listener quite a bit to consider. I have yet to meet anyone who has not enjoyed it. Life is short. We are living in very volatile and uncertain times. Short stories might be your best bet. And audible has a way you can get it for free. Nothing to lose, tons of entertainment to gain.

William Christopher Spreadbury (aka: Bill, Will, and upon occasion Willie) is a writer and a pretty groovy dude. He is kind to the elderly and somewhat slightly tolerant of idiots and buffoons. He likes to think of himself as a nice guy and most who know him would agree. He enjoys drinking wine and dancing but is not very good at either. He has two amazing adult children that make him prouder every day. He calls Chicago home and is a forever die-hard fan of the Bears and the Bulls. William embraces all that is dark and forbidden within him and pours it out onto his pages. If you are willing to join him on his journey, he will introduce you to the part of your soul you pretend does not exist.
