Title: The Rebound Effect

Author: Linda Griffin

Voice Actors: Catherine Hein Carter

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Book Blurb:

In the small town of Cougar, struggling single mother and veterinary assistant Teresa Lansing is still bruised from a failed relationship when Frank McAllister sweeps her off her feet.

Frank is a big-city SWAT officer who moved to Cougar only four months ago. He's handsome, charming, forceful, very sexy, and a bit mysterious. He had his eye on Teresa even before they met and is pushing for a serious relationship right away.

Teresa finds his intense courtship flattering, and the sex is fabulous, but she doesn't want her deaf six-year-old son to be hurt again. Her former fiancé cheated on her when he got drunk after being unjustly fired, but he loves her and her son, and the whirlwind romance is complicated by his efforts to win Teresa back.

And then there's the matter of the bodies buried at Big Devil Creek…

My Review:

Story Impressions – Dating is dangerous, especially in the town of Cougar. Frank is charismatic, sexy, attentive, and wants to get married. Like right away. Will Teresa heed the warning signs, or will she walk into a murderer’s trap? The Rebound Effect is a creepy romantic suspense worth listening to. The audiobook is narrated well. Readers will get caught up in the story. The ending is a shocker! Perfect for fans of Nightmare Next Door.

Narrator’s overall voice – Catherine narrates this romantic suspense to perfection. Her voice is engaging yet doesn’t detract from the overall story. She amps up the suspense so the listener gets the full effect of the story.

Does the narrator fit the characters? Yes, Catherine uses her voice like an instrument, differing it to fit the characters.

Narrator’s reading style –There’s an effortlessness to Catherine’s style which makes listening to this audiobook entertaining.

Narrator’s impact on reading experience – Catherine makes the characters come alive. Readers can enjoy listening to her and ponder this frightening romantic suspense.

Narrator’s pacing –The pacing is even and doesn’t detract the reader’s attention.

Audiobook flow –The audiobook flows well. I found myself petrified for Teresa while listening.

What makes this audiobook unique –What I found so unique about this audiobook was the way Catherine conveys emotion and tension. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook more than reading the book. A lot of that has to do with the way Catherine narrates.

Would I recommend this audiobook –Yes, I would recommend it to any listener. You’ll be entertained for hours.

Author Biography:

Growing up in San Diego, California, I developed a passion for the printed word with my very first Dick and Jane reader. As soon as I figured out that somebody must create those words, I knew I wanted to be a “book maker” when I grew up. I didn’t wait, though; I wrote my first story, “Judy and the Fairies,” when I was six. My love of books also led me to an MLS degree from UCLA and a career as a reference and collection development librarian at the San Diego Public Library, including twenty-two years managing the Central Library’s fiction collection. Retirement allowed me to put writing front and center. I’ve had twenty-three stories published in literary journals and anthologies, and Beyond Stonebridge is my ninth book from the Wild Rose Press.
