The Sanctuary (Book 4, Time Warriors) by P.L. Parker is a Shake Off Winter Doldrums pick #timetravel

Title: The Sanctuary (Book 4, Time Warriors)

Author: P.L. Parker

Genre: Time travel fiction

Book Blurb:

The compound provided a much-needed sanctuary for the battle-weary tribe, but the allure of the Americas is just too great to resist. The tribe would be sailing soon and with them would go Bree’s last hope of freedom from her nemesis, Yejun. The departure is complicated by the continuous threat of attack from the brutal and predatory Cros, but no matter what, Bree is going with the tribe when they set sail, even if she has to swim behind and the warrior, Kitch, seems to be her best chance.

Excerpt:

Haste made her careless and she almost bumped into Yejun as she rounded the corner of the med hut. Trailing behind him was the massive figure of Sung-Ho.

“Happy to see me?” Yejun’s smile was more of a leer as he groped his crotch drawing her attention downward. She almost puked.

His gaze swept the compound. “I can understand your feelings for me. Nice to have a real man around instead of these pussies.”

“You’re sickening.” She spun on her heel, intending a quick escape.

“You need what I have.” He laughed low as his fat tongue swiped thin lips. “Heard you were keeping company with Kitch. Scraping the bottom of the barrel from my point of view.”

His comment stopped her dead in her tracks. She turned, furious now. Heat welled so hot she felt as though she were being consumed by it.

“Scraping the bottom of the barrel is what I’d be doing if I ever lost what few brain cells I have and chose you. Kitch is a thousand times better man than you’ll ever be.”

His lips curved in a sneer. “Why don’t you just admit you want me and quit playing games.” He glanced over his shoulder. “I’m sure my friend here would let you join me in my cell if you asked nicely.”

Sung-Ho grunted, a sound of disgust.

“She won’t be joining you anytime soon.” Kitch rested a hand on her shoulder. “So don’t waste your time wishing it’ll happen because it won’t.”

“Don’t you think she should be the one to make that decision?” Yejun snarled. “She needs a man, not some two-bit thug from some other time.”

“She already has a man,” Kitch replied. His head dipped. His lips curved in a half smile. “We’re bonded, or didn’t anyone tell you?”

Shocked to her core, Bree felt herself gasp.

Yejun’s dark eyes flared. “She doesn’t seem too sure about that. If you were bonded, I’d know about it.”

Kitch took Bree’s hand, holding it between both of his. His amber gaze seared into her very soul. “Tell the man we’re bonded.”

“I…I,” she sputtered.

Drawn by their voices, a small crowd had gathered, watching the interchange with avid interest.

He leaned down, whispering in her ear. “I won’t hold you to it.”

Get out of it! Who was he kidding? Whatever happened, this was what she wanted.

She drew a deep breath and faced Yejun. “As Kitch said, we’re bonded. We have been for several days.”
