My Review:

One queen to rule them all...

As the Scarlet Queen's vast armies swarm the lands of Alluria, Jane has been transformed to a dark druid, under the spell of the Shadowlord. Geoff, Sawyer, and Ishara look to Ariel for answers. Can Jane be turned back to who she once was or has the Scarlet Queen devised a trojan horse within their ranks? As Jane's power grows, so do the Scarlet Queen's armies as they crush those who oppose them underfoot. Distrust between the human and elven races must be overcome if the Scarlet Queen is going to be stopped. Can sworn enemies unite to save Alluria or is all lost?

The Scarlet Queen is an epic fantasy I couldn't stop reading. From start to finish, I connected with the characters and the riveting story transported me to Alluria. Mitch Reinhardt is a talented fantasy writer and his world-building skills are intricate, descriptive, and visual. I had not read more than three pages before I was hooked. The plot itself is a reader's dream with twists I didn't see coming, action scenes equally balanced with emotional scenes, and an epic final battle so intense, it took my breath away. As a Tolkien scholar, I found myself comparing Mitch Reinhardt's writing to Tolkien and it stacks up to the great professor. There are also similarities to Robert Jordan. A brilliant fantasy novel, The Scarlet Queen is a must-read. I need to go back and read books one and two now. Highly recommend!
