Book Blurb:
A kiss under the Mistletoe brings good fortune, but can a Christmas wedding stop a deadly feud?
The soft beauty beside him at the altar would make the perfect bride. Roderick MacDougall would do anything to stop the feud without more bloodshed. Too bad the gorgeous woman is the daughter of his greatest enemy who murdered his da. Trust in a Comyn is hard won, even if she tempts his senses.
Mary Comyn only wants to stop the wars and live a life of peace and goodwill. Tricked by her father and forced by the English king to marry her clan’s enemy, Mary fears she’s scarifying finding true love for peace. A Christmas wedding sounds romantic, but why would the handsome MacDougall laird, her greatest clan enemy, love her?
A man conflicted by duty charged to find peace. A woman whose father betrayed all. When betrayal looms from within, can enemies find love and forge a new future for both clans?
My Review:
To stop the feuding and lost lives, Roderick MacDougall agrees to marry the daughter of the man who murdered his father. Can Roderick and Mary forge a life woven with love or will hatred fester in their hearts? Thistle in the Mistletoe is a beautiful historical romance set at Christmastime. The descriptive narration is lush and paints an emotive picture in each scene. Every aspect of this story is historically accurate. Readers will feel swept away while reading. The characters, though, are what make Thistle in the Mistletoe unforgettable.
Let’s start with the characters. Roderick is a warrior who’s tired of the death and bloodshed between his clan and his rival’s clan. His heart wants peace. He’ll marry Mary but his heart cannot trust her. But love always finds a way and Roderick is in for a surprise. Well-written, his character will bind itself to readers. He’s a tough warrior but love is tougher. I connected with him and swooned a couple of times.
Then there’s Mary. She’s a pawn in a dangerous game. She fears she’s sacrificed everything and without her consent. What about love? Dare she hope Roderick can love her? My heart went out to Mary again and again. She’s a wonderfully written heroine. She makes this story come alive.
Margaret Izard has penned another outstanding romance. Her gift for storytelling is on display here. Take my advice and pick up Thistle in the Mistletoe. It will fill you with holiday spirit.
