On the eve of a business trip to a coastal island, fate intervenes, pairing her with her sexy crush. As she thinks about sharing the same space with Max for a week, her world veers dangerously off course.
Fueled by success as engineer and president of his family’s firm, recently divorced Max needs to jumpstart his life. When his father unexpectedly assigns him to Goldie’s project, his closely guarded attraction to her comes front and center. Thoughts of spending a week alone with this beautiful intelligent woman make his internal compass glitch.
Romance stirs with the island breeze, so simple when they’re hundreds of miles away from normal. But as Goldie and Max return to reality, will they discover real love is more than a game?
My Review:
Working together while staying at an island resort, Max and Goldie realize their mutual secret crush can turn to love but are they ready to take the plunge? Truth and Dare is a light-hearted workplace romance I enjoyed. The characters are fun and engaging without being too serious. The descriptive narration whisks the reader away. The romance gives off a fairytale vibe with a modern twist. Relax and unwind with Truth and Dare.
Let’s talk about these characters. Max is a stone-cold serious man in the office. He’s the son of the owner and has a reputation to uphold. Inside, though, he’s still trying to tamp down his secret feelings for Goldie. She’s everything he could want in a woman. Max is a well-written hero with some control issues. He needs to let loose, but can he? His devotion to his family is admirable. I found his conflictive feelings for Goldie a delight to read.
Goldie is a wonderfully written heroine. I connected with her right away. She’s got a serious crush on Max but every time he’s around her, he’s gruff and keeps his distance. But everything changes on the island resort. Can they continue their romance once they go back?
The romance is light, comedic, and without too much conflict. They fall in love quickly, like a fairytale, but I enjoyed that aspect. Not every romance needs to be heavy with angst and Ann M. Trader writes this workplace romance with that frame of mind. So, take my advice, and dive into this romance.
