My Review:
Landing the perfect job, computer programmer Abby tries in vain not to fall for her sexy boss but her heart refuses to listen. Abby lands her dream job at the top IT security firm in the country. Her new boss, Ted Endicott, is prickly and hard to figure out. One minute he’s relaxed and complimentary, and the next he’s standoffish and accusatory. Sure, she's attracted to him and doesn’t mind his hearing loss, but she refuses to date her boss. It’ll end in disaster and ruin her future financial freedom. Her heart, on the other hand, declines to listen. As they explore their feelings for one another and their budding relationship, a hacker is discovered, and all evidence points to her. As she desperately tries to clear her name, will their romance fizzle or will it strengthen their love?
Unlock My Heart is a fast-moving techno romance I couldn’t stop reading. I’m not a programmer or an IT person but I have a good friend who is so when I shared bits and pieces from this book, she exclaimed with joy how accurate Jennifer Wilck’s technojargon was. I learned a lot about the IT security business while reading which was an added bonus. I connected with Abby from the first page. She’s such a likable heroine and I adored her geekiness. I wished we could be friends in real life. I also thoroughly enjoyed Ted. Jennifer Wilck showcased the struggles and triumphs Ted faced as one who lives with hearing loss. I especially liked the parts when Ted would take out his hearing aids and decompress with the gentle hum around him. Well done, Jennifer. The romance between Abby and Ted is slow-burn with plenty of angst. The push-pull between these two had me whipping through the pages. Brilliant from start to finish, Unlock My Heart is a feast for romance readers. Highly recommend!
