Title: UNTIL WE GET IT RIGHT
Author: Cadence Vonn
Genre: Erotic Romance
Book Blurb:
It’s lust at first sight when Dr. Luke Blacke meets the woman overseeing the renovation of his house. After landing a job in his home town, his first order of business is finding his own place and getting out from under his brother’s roof where things go bump in the night, day, and anytime Mark and his fiancée feel in the mood.
Toni Berg is out to prove to her bastard of a brother that she’s a capable architect and can handle the project manager’s job for Luke Blacke, a new customer whose work will bring in a hefty paycheck for the company. The instant magnetism between her and the tall, handsome doctor requires discretion. That doesn’t prevent the lovers from discovering the kinky side of their attraction.
But the property Luke buys holds a secret someone wants and will do anything to obtain. Luke must protect Toni or lose the woman who has opened up a world of sexual pleasures and who brings to life their erotic fantasies. Lust turns to love as danger lurks within the walls of his house.
Excerpt:
“In front of the crew, the contractors, and especially my brother, you’ll be Dr. Blacke.”
Her pointed stare caught him off guard. Feisty came to mind. “Yes, ma’am.” He winked, which made her huff.
“And no more kissing on site. It won’t happen again,” she added.
“You mean after this one.” He pulled her close and captured her mouth. Rigid at first, she relaxed in his embrace. She leaned closer, balanced on her toes, and clung to his neck. Her fingers entwined in the hair at the back of his head, grasping it tighter as the kiss became more intimate.
“Luke,” Toni panted as she pushed away from his hold, “this is unprofessional. If Jason found out, he’d fire me.”
“Don’t you own part of the company?”
“I do, but he’s the boss. I’d still own part of the company, but I wouldn’t work for it.”
“Fine. I promise it won’t happen here again. But I’ll be damned if I’ll stop kissing you.”
“It might be better if you don’t.” She pushed the hair off her face with a frustrated huff.
“Hey,” he tucked the wayward strands behind her ear, “maybe it would be better if I found another contractor, because now that I’ve kissed you, I’m not going back.”
She closed her eyes and released a resigned sigh. “Can you be discreet?”
“I’m a doctor. Discreet’s my middle name. So, you want to get to know me better?” He caressed her cheek and leaned down nose-to-nose.
“The moment you scanned my body I couldn’t deny my interest. I’ve never had this reaction to a man before. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had sex in two years.” She slapped her hand over her mouth. “Shit, TMI? I have a bad habit of saying what comes to mind when I’m nervous,” she said sheepishly.
Luke laughed. “It’s been over a year for me. Why don’t we test the theory of attraction and have sex? If we still find ourselves attracted to each other afterward, then we continue to see each other. Otherwise, no problem. We’ll have scratched our itch, and you can go back to being only my contractor.”
Her eyes widened. “You’re serious?”
“I never joke about sex. I want you, and you want me. Why dance around the idea? I’m not much for posturing. What do we have to lose? Neither of us are virgins, right?”
“Ri-i-g-ht,” Toni stuttered.
“It’s Friday night. Do you have any plans?”
“Ah, no.”
“I don’t have a private place yet. Do you want to go back to your place?”
“Angela’s there, and she has the hots for my brother. She’ll do anything to please him. Our secret won’t be safe with her around.” Toni’s shoulders sagged.
“Can you get away for the night?”
“I suppose. Angela will take care of the animals. What do you suggest?”
“Camping.”
“Doesn’t that take a lot of planning and supplies?”
“I’ll race home and throw the gear in my car. You go pack a bag, and we’ll grab groceries on our way to a campsite.”
“Since they’re calling for rain tonight, I think camping might be a surefire way to not enjoy sex. I have a better idea.”
“I’m game,” he said, waiting for her to continue.
“Why don’t we just get a room at a motel? There are plenty of them along the highways. I’ll ask Angela to let Jumbles out and feed him. We can go have fun, after which we’ll head to our own houses, and no one will be the wiser.” She lifted one shoulder in a quick shrug.
“Very illicit affair-ish. I like it. Where do you suggest we go?” He took hold of her hips and yanked her closer to the increasing bulge in his jeans. “I’m finding this idea a real turn-on.”
“Me too.”
“Go home and pack an overnight bag. Meet me in the casino parking lot. We’ll leave your truck and travel north for a few miles so we don’t bump into anyone we know.”
“Have you done this before?”
“No, why?”
“The whole plan seems to come easy to you.”
“I’ve learned to think fast and get things done. Part of a doctor’s training.”
“Well, Doctor, we can’t use the casino parking. My brother enjoys playing poker on the weekends, and he’ll recognize my truck.”
“Even if you park in the overflow area where he won’t see it?” Luke crossed his fingers against the dip of her spine.
“I hate to risk it. My friend, Janie, lives in the Pines condos. She won’t mind if we park near her townhouse.”
“Tell me where, and I’ll be there within the hour.”
She rattled off the address, and they left to pack a few things and meet up.
Luke rushed through the door of the house, storming up the stairs to his room.
“What’s up?” Mark asked as he peered into his brother’s bedroom.
“Heading out for the night. See you sometime tomorrow,” Luke yelled from the bathroom as he grabbed his toothbrush.
“Shit, that was fast.” Mark laughed. “What happened to taking your time?”
“This is a trial run to see if we enjoy each other’s company,” Luke said matter-of-factly then hesitated. “That sounded stupid.”
“Yep. But if it works, go for it. The key to winning in the bedroom is to make sure the woman’s satisfied. Completely exhausted, if you know what I mean.”
“I heard that,” Emily said as she came out of the other room. “A woman is satisfied when she hears the guy scream her name in the throes of passion. It gives her a sense of power.” She placed a sweet kiss on Mark’s cheek.
“What she said.” Mark pointed to his fiancée. “Don’t forget condoms,” he yelled over his shoulder as he followed Emily.
Luke checked the date on the packs he had in his dresser. Still good, he stuffed them in the side pocket of his suitcase and headed out the door, thankful he didn’t run into Mark or Emily again.

What’s your favorite part about being a romance author?
Creating a strong heroine and connecting her with an equally strong hero. I like my couples to get together early and then solve the conflict as a team. That way they can spend more time discovering the sexy side of their relationship! But the best part is giving them their happily-ever-after ending.
Here’s my tip to add romance to your love life:
Kiss your lover like it’s the last time you’ll have together.
