Genre: Regency Romance, Historical Romance

Book Blurb:

Anastasia Quintin has resigned herself to live in quiet seclusion as companion to Miss Isabel Albryght, but one lost wager by her headstrong bookworm of a mistress soon requires Anastasia’s return to the society from which she hides. Her first event in eight years is to be a house party in honor of the recently entitled Earl of Huntingdon, hosted by his haughty grandmother. Dante, Earl of Huntingdon, is furious. His meddling grandmother, determined to find him a wife before the week is done, has thrown a party in his name. But his heart is not available. Since the death of his beloved Anna, he has shunned marriage, believing no other woman could replace her. However, his anger is quickly quenched when he waltzes with a fascinating young woman at the masked ball, but no sooner does the dance end than she rushes away, leaving only her mask behind her. Anastasia, having been persuaded by Isabel to impersonate her at the ball, is in shock. She has just danced with Dante St. Clair, the very man who long ago stole her heart and thereafter dashed all her hopes and dreams. Can one night, one waltz rekindle what was once thought lost forever? *Reissued in a new series with a beautiful new cover!

My Review:

A woman he once thought perished suddenly waltzes back into his arms and heart. Before Dante became the Earl of Huntingdon, he fell in love with a girl named Anna. Her family told him she died suddenly. His heart broken, he swore he wouldn’t marry another. Years later, his grandmother plans a party in his honor. She forces him to choose a wife or else. He begrudgingly agrees. He attends the masquerade ball and is shocked by his dancing partner. In every way, she’s Anna. But how? Is she a ghost? No, she’s a woman and one he wants by her side. Getting her to confess she’s Anna is one thing but keeping her with him forever is quite the task. It’s a second chance with his beloved and no one is going to stand in his way, least of all his sour-faced grandmother.

Wish Upon a Waltz is a riveting Regency romance I couldn’t put down. Not only is it second chance historical romance, but there’s a bit of mystery thrown in. Why would Anna’s family lie to Dante and say she died? Such a great twist to this romance and had me whipping through the pages to find out the truth. I connected with all of the characters, but I especially loved this couple. The plot moved at a terrific pace with a full cast of characters to interact with. The romance drove the plot and it was delightful to read from both sides. The setting and descriptive narration make this book shine. Alanna Lucas is known for her historical accuracy and her research into the time period makes for an unforgettable read. If Regency romance is your reading jam, pick up Wish Upon a Waltz. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Highly recommend!
