Title: Witches of Worth
Author: Journey Windrow
Genre: Paranormal, Urban Fantasy
Book Blurb:
It’s the witching hour on Samhain. Born-witch Amaris Rutter is on a mission to safeguard the familiars of the Salem Council of Witches. But her best intentions turn her world upside down as she's crushed between warring factions of the Cabinet of Witchery. To make it worse, Amaris finds herself caught in a web of intrigue that leads to disaster.
This fast-paced spin-off from the Mage of Boston series is an enjoyable standalone that also offers fresh insights that enrich the mage series. It slots neatly between The Reluctant Mage and Stone and Bone, enriching both.
Immerse yourself in a world where magic, mystery, dominance struggles, and the power of second chances collide.
My Review:
Amaris may have honorable intentions, but everything goes sideways on Samhain. Enter a world where witches clash and familiars are pawns in a power struggle. Witches of Worth is an imaginative glimpse into the world of witchery filled with hierarchy, intrigue, and political games. I was taken in from the first page until the last. If you like high tension and drama, this book is for you.
Let’s start with the characters. Since this book is part of the Mage of Boston series (though it can be read as a standalone), I was familiar with some of the characters. These characters are well-written and offer insight from a different perspective. Amaris, for example, is a wonderfully complex born-witch. Her viewpoint is unique, and I connected with her right away. Each character is original with their own voice and temperament. I also found the mystery behind their actions to be fascinating.
The world-building, narration, and setting are brilliantly detailed and create a masterful piece of writing I couldn’t put down. The stakes are high which account for the high drama. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more from this author.
My Rating: 5 stars

Journey Windrow is an emerging Urban Fantasy author. Her debut urban fantasy is The Reluctant Mage, Mage of Boston Series, Book One. Journey's work is noir, funny, filled with mystery, intrigue, and has a full cast of relatable characters. She's a world traveler, has been in all four hemispheres, lived in three countries, and considers herself a citizen of Planet Earth. Please note: There is no Planet B. She’s fascinated with genetics, species evolution, mythology, language as the repository of culture, physics, and the impact of trauma on the psyche—not necessarily in that order. Boston was once her stomping grounds and what better place to set an urban fantasy?
